Helena Carroll was born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland, but is identifiably Irish Catholic in roles and lifestyle. She was educated in Glasgow at the Notre Dame de Namur Catholic convent school.
She is mostly a stage actress, but has also done films (James Joyce's The Dead) and television.
Her age is a deeply (and well) kept secret, but she has been acting since at least the early to mid-1950s.
It is unknown if she ever married or had children.
