Helen Worth (born Cathryn Helen Wigglesworth on January 7, 1951 in Ossett, Yorkshire) is a British actress.
Her most enduring role has been her portrayal of Gail Platt on the soap opera Coronation Street. Since arriving on the Street as Gail Potter in 1974, Gail has married four times and has had three children.
Helen's character, Gail Platt, has recently been involved in one of soap's biggest 'whodunnit' storylines. Gail had been receiving cards from 'Richard Hillman' - her serial killer husband who was pronounced dead in 2003 after he drove the whole family into the Manchester Ship Canal. They all survived apart from Richard. This storyline came to an end around mid-May, when Gail set a trap and revealed her own son, David, as the Hillman hoaxer.
In addition to her role in Coronation Street, she has also had bit parts in movies such as Oliver!, The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie and the Doctor Who story Colony in Space (1971).
She has been married to Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends narrator Michael Angelis since 1991, and was living with him in a common-law marriage for years before that.
In 2006 Helen Worth won a Lifetime Achievement award in the Inside Soap Awards for her performance as Gail Platt in Coronation Street.
