Talk:Hedgewitch

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Hedgewitch" is not a modern term made up by Rae Beth. Is there anyway of rearranging this so that factual information is put on top? Shall I rewrite it?--Toadsboon 07:15, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

Sorry, Toadsboon, I had to remove the free spam for Dawn Jackson. I see no evidence that she is a "credible" source; just having a website doesn't make a person credible.

[edit] Hedgewitch, lack of references.

The author of this page cites no references. The author, based on his personal web site, has done no research, or at least has provided no citations or references for his claims.

The assertion that hedgewitch derives from the Old English word hægtesse, (this the correct spelling) is pure speculation.

Rae Beth's use of the phrase is placed in a specific context in her work.

A Hedge Witch and Wicca is not the same thing. Rae Beth uses these 2 terms as one in the same. Her books in Europe are titled Hedge Witch and the same books are titled Wiccan in the US. Wicca is a religion with it's own set beliefs. Hedge is a path based on ideas and is not considered a religion. Hedge is a way of life not a belief system.

[edit] Fantasy

The term is also widely used in fantasy, rather different: a low level magician. And what, pray tell, was it redefined from? Goldfritha 17:27, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
