Hector (ヘクトル Hekutoru) is a fictional character in the popular video game Fire Emblem: Rekka no Ken, the first Fire Emblem game to be released in the U.S.

He is a handsome young lord who is a good friend of Eliwood. He helps Eliwood with his quest to find his father. His parents died of natural causes, and his older brother, Uther, is the current lord of Ostia. It is also revealed in Fuuin no Tsurugi that he has a half-brother, who is the lord of another Lycian country. This bold, reckless, and valiant axe fighter sets out to help his friend in search of his father Elbert, along with a few Ostian colleagues, and the beloved princess of Caelin, Lyndis. Behind the scenes, however, there is terrible news concerning his brother Uther.

Hector eventually acquires the Legendary Axe of Lightning, Armads (also referred to as Almace), used by the legendary Durban, who also referred to himself by his axe's name. Hector's defense is further increased by 5 points when equipped with Armads. Hector is the only unit able to use the Armads so it is well advised you use him throughout the course of the game. The Armads is especially strong against the Fire Dragon, Wyvern Riders, and Wyvern Lords, the internal game logic being that those are all 'Dragon' type units and therefore the legendary weapons are especially strong against them.

Hector also appears in Fire Emblem: Sword of Seals, but eventually he dies from injuries caused by King Zephiel. However, his daughter, the Mage Lilina, is one of the playable characters in the game. Hector himself is unlockable in Trial Maps after finishing the game several times, with the General class specializing in axes. However, he is nowhere as good as his young self in Rekka no Ken (as opposed to Eliwood, who wasn't as strong in Rekka no Ken, but is regarded better than Hector in Fuuin no Tsurugi).

If he gets an A support with either the Lord Lyn or either of the Pegasus Knight Sisters Florina and Farina, one of them will marry him and become the mother of Lilina.

Hector's forte lies in physical strength and durability. As an axe fighter, he is able to deal heavy amounts of damage, and his defense rating makes him able to take an immense amount of punishment. Surprisingly, he is also quite fast for an armoured unit. He is also not as lucky as the other two lords, but this is often insignificant due to his toughness. He can be vulnerable to magical attack, however.

Hector is counted as one of the strongest Lords of Fire Emblem, alongside Sigurd from Genealogy of Holy War, Ephraim from The Sacred Stones and Ike from Path of Radiance.

[edit] Trivia

  • In Rekka no Ken // Blazing Sword, when Hector talks with Eliwood in their support conversations he explains a dream to him "a long-past memory". In the dream, Hector mentions a big man who is carrying a girl on his shoulders. Both are blue-haired. There, they are having a short talk. Eliwood gets the idea that the big-man with blue mustache is Hector and that the girl is perhaps Hector's daughter. Then Hector explains that the girl walks away with a red-haired boy. Inmediately, Hector notices that the boy is a Pheraen, possibly Eliwood's son, and is not really pleased about the future vision because he doesn’t accept the fact that his "possible" daughter could get married with Eliwood's son. Ironically, this "vision of the future" is the "best ending" of Fire Emblem: Sword of Seals, which is the marriage of Roy & Lilina who is Hector's daughter.
