Heby Municipality

Heby Municipality is a Municipality in Västmanland County, in central Sweden, belonging to the province Uppland. The municipality covers an area of 1169.2 km². Of the total population of 13653, 6969 are male, and 6684 are female with a population density of 12 inhabitants per km².

The Dalälven River forms Heby's northern border. The municipality also has substantial forests with animals such as elk, deer, fox, bear and lynx.

In September 2005 it was reported that the municipality was permitted to be part of Uppsala County after intense lobbying in the late 1990s, following a municipal poll in 1998 where the majority was in support of the county transition. The transition might take place on January 1, 2007. There is however forces still working for the transition not to take place.
