Heather Alexander

Heather Alexander is a musician and songwriter in the Celtic genre. She has also been a popular and influential artist in the field of filk music, although she no longer considers herself a filker.
Alexander was born in the San Francisco Bay Area. She initially recorded for the filk labels Off Centaur Publications and its successor Firebird Arts and Music. She later founded her own label, Sea Fire Productions, based out of Banks, Oregon.
Alexander was a founding member of the Celtic rock band Phoenyx in 1990, with which she released one album, Keepers of the Flame; the band disbanded in 1991 after achieving a high degree of local fame, and Alexander returned to her acoustic roots to embark on a solo career, releasing her first solo album Wanderlust in 1994.
In 2001, Alexander founded a new band, Uffington Horse, together with Andrew Hare and Dan Ochipint; their first album, Enchantment, was published in 2004. In addition to her own albums, Alexander has appeared on several concert collections and on the track "Better than Who" on Leslie Fish's album Firestorm: Songs of the Third World War.
In 2002, Alexander released the album Insh'Allah, inspired by Steven Barnes's novel Lion's Blood. Another literary inspired album, Merlin's Descendants (2006) is based ont the fiction of Irene Radford.
Alexander has also performed at numerous science fiction and furry conventions, such as Further Confusion (2004 and 2005), Eurofurence (2005 and 2006), and Orycon (2006)
