[edit] History

The New Zealand band named Headless Chickens recorded three albums, Stunt Clown (1988), Body Blow (1991), and Greedy (1997), plus various EP's for Flying Nun Records in the 1980's and 1990's. Body Blow went double platinum and Greedy contained "George", a No. 1 hit single, both in their home country. In 2002 Flying Nun released a 2CD best-of compilation named ChickensHits. The band was headed by Chris Matthews and had a revolving cast of members, including vocalist Fiona McDonald who is featured on the Body Blow album and also appears briefly on the Greedy album. Going against the grain of the Dunedin sound that dominated the Flying Nun roster at the time, the Headless Chickens made extensive use of electronic instruments, or "abused technology" in their own words, in their music.
