He Man (Three Kingdoms)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
He Man was a commander under the Yellow Turbans during the fall of the Han dynasty of China.
He, along with leaders He Yi and Huang Shao, pillaged Runan. Cao Cao then raided Runan. Cao Cao's trusted bodyguard, Dian Wei, killed He Yi's second-in-command in the battle that followed, and successfully routed the Yellow Scarves army. The following day, Huang Shao took command; He Man, wielding an iron mace, advanced on foot and offered combat, prounouncing "I am He Man, the devil who shoots across the sky. Who dare fight with me?"[1]. Cao Hong accepted the challenge, and they fought fifty blows with no advantage. Then Cao Hong feigned defeat, but then wheeled round, struck his opponent twice, and thus killed him.
He Man is a source of much amusement for modern readers, given a comparison with He-Man and the fact that the man only lasts out for three paragraphs.
