Hayer
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hayer (Häyer, Häer, Heir, Haire) is an uncommon surname found within the Punjab regions of India and Pakistan. Having not been standerdized, there are often variations on the spelling of the name, and on occasion individuals may differ in its pronunciation. It is unique to the Punjabi Jatt's of India, and is not usually found within other castes.
The hayer surname is quite common in the respect of its origin. Its roots have been traced back to the regions surrounding the black sea, after which migrations have caused it to spread across the globe. This helps to explain its more frequent (in contrast to Punjab) appearances in Germany and even Ireland and England. Being most commonly found within Germany, it is one of four Punjabi surnames that are unique in that aspect: Häyer, Gill, Mann, and Hans. An aryan, and more broadly, scythic backround is generally associated with the previous four surnames, although not restrained to only those Jatt surnames.
Today, one may find Hayers to have migrated widely throughout the globe, and it hase become harder to destinguish a punjabi Häyer to a German, Irish, or English Häyer due to the increasingly frequent westernization of naming amoungst settled punjabi's.
