From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Haverstock School Business & Enterprise College is a comprehensive school in Chalk Farm, the London Borough of Camden, England. It is a secondary school with a sixth form and pupils' ages range from 11-19. It was recently awarded Business and Enterprise College status under the current headteacher, John Dowd.
In 2004 Haverstock School had nearly 1,100 students, of whom two-thirds were boys. The ethnic background of the students was diverse, with one-third of students of a white British background, and many of Bangladeshi or Black African heritage. Close to 75% of the students were somalians and 20% were refugees or asylum seekers .
The 2004 Ofsted report described the school as "satisfactory" overall, having made progress in strengthening weaker areas. Behaviour had improved and the teachers had a more consistent approach towards managing students. The school had begun to "tackle learning" but needed more time to raise students' progress. The report noted that building and redevelopment projects had been disrupting the school for several years, absorbing senior leaders' time and slowing the development of its Business and Enterprise College scheme.
Haverstock School is part of the London Borough of Camden Local Education Authority.
