[edit] NA

Hi Mike, Wow looks great! A few things.. in the green box, remove the part about edit conflicts. Only one person at a time can edit a page, not a section, or, rather then removing, change the part the says "Choose a section" [sic], and replace it with "Make sure only one person edits the page at a time, to reduce [[Help:Edit conflict|edit conflicts]]

One more thing, there's a little space... ah no matter I'll get it ;). Well done for taking the initiative of making such a template. Perhaps you could put it on WP:YFA. — Deon555talkReview 00:18, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

Okay, i've changed little bits, and delete a line and a half, because it was substing the template for somereason? See [1], [2], [3]. — Deon555talkReview 00:30, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Deletionist

Not sure what the article was about, to be honest, but if you want to delete a page and you are the only author, it's quicker and easier to just whack {{db-author}} on it rather than list it at WP:AFD. Hope that helps, happy editing, Steve block Talk 15:51, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] New AfD

I wish to test a new version of the AfD that I have created. The intention is to reduce the clutter at the start of the page which is extremely off-putting for someone who suddenly finds the message on their page (as I did when I started!)

I have created a template AfDU which should be indentical to AfD except that it leaves in the substituted text a call to AfDM - using parameters for the page, domain & date.

I've done as much testing as I can on my test pages, and I can't do any more without upsetting someone (assumming I've not been upsetting people all night if test1's been appearing in some "articles for deletion" (if it has sorry!).

There's no documentation with either template - yet. And ... there may be room to remove more clutter from the message - but I'm not sure what the rest does.

It's 1:20am so, unfortunately I'm going to bed and I won't be around to answer questions till the morning. (PS. Also try subst NA & NA|0 )

If you have some kind of propolsal (and that's what this sounds like), you might want to try the policy pump first. -Royalguard11(Talk·Desk) 01:09, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] I Want to do a test delete using AfD but I don't know how

I'm trying to create an alternative version of AfD to put up as a proposal. It currently is sitting as X6. How do I test it?

  1. Sandpit - delete it?
  2. Create a fictious article?
  3. Find an article I don't like (tried couldn't)

You could create a test page in your user subspace. I believe WP:SUBPAGE has a decent explanation of how to do that. User:Haseler/Sandbox is as easy a pagename as any. If not that, you could simply use the "preview" function in article space to view changes without saving. Hope one of those answers your question; if not, feel free to drop another template. :) Luna Santin 09:49, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

Luna, it is in the wrong name space, the AfD fails to function properly because it restricts its own use to the main pages! --Mike 10:21, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
Ahh, I see. That's a little trickier than I was expecting. If you're confident in your understanding of templates, you could probably remove the #ifeq statement that checks for namespace, and then put it back in once you're done testing. Otherwise, you could just edit a page without saving, and have a look at the template with the preview button. Can't think of any other way around it, but unfortunately I'm off to bed for now. If I think of anything, I'll let you know; if not, you can always use a second {{helpme}} or post at the help desk, or even the village pump. Good luck. :) Luna Santin 10:27, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your template

It looks like instruction creep, to me. User:Zoe|(talk) 22:47, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

Your template might be useful to some users as long as it were explicitly not required in any way - I wouldn't ever use it, but I think others might like it. It would have to be several templates because it would be substituted (no m:ParserFunctions allowed for subst'ing templates) - i.e. biography and history article starter templates would have to use, say, {{starter-bio}} and {{starter-hist}} instead of {{starter|hist}}. From the point of having those starter articles entered at the appropriate template pages, it's just a matter of entering {{subst:tl|starter-?}} into your empty article - you can create the template family yourself. Be sure to document it well, if you do. Good luck, Nihiltres 06:44, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Carnegie of Finhaven

Do you think you could more correctly marks the parts copied from Domestic Annals or rewrite the whole thing. You've just cut and pasted chunks from the book. It reads like it was written in 1850! --Trieste 12:08, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Sat-Tan

I have moved Haseler:user/Sat-Tan to User:Haseler/Sat-Tan. -- RHaworth 09:47, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

Hi Mike! Unfortunatly, the source issue is the thing I'd wanted help with, lol. I'll scout around my library and some online journal resources at my college, see if I can find anything. Kuronue 16:24, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hassan Kamel Al-Sabbah AfD

Hi Haseler. I noticed that a user had deleted a majority of this article after the AfD started but before you voted. I have restored that material and request that you have another look at the article to confirm your vote. It seems you have an issue with it being very under-sourced and I understand that, but the notability claim is significantly higher with the restored material. I promise not to be offended if your vote isn't changed. Thanks. --Oakshade 00:06, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for having another look! Per your concerns about references, there has been a signifficant delelopment. Long story short, a bunch of patent numbers and links to the actual patents that support a great deal of the article have been put in. See the AfD for the odd story behind that. Cheers! --Oakshade 03:27, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
