Hastings Old Town Carnival
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Hastings Old Town Carnival had it's first procession in 1969. In those days Hastings and St Leonards had their own carnival which missed out the Old Town so Old Town locals decided to form their own carnival. The very first Old Town Carnival Queen was Marion Muggridge, aged 18 years. Born in the Old Town, she is still resident there today and manages the Crazy & Adventure Golf Courses. She is now known as Marion Hartley. The Old Town Carnival gradually got better and the other one, gradually got smaller and does not exist any more. As a parting gift the Hastings carnival gave the Old Town carnival the right to the title "Miss Hastings" so the Old Town Carnival Queen is also Miss Hastings. Hastings Old Town Carnival is run by local Hastings Old Town volunteers and always has been.
