NOTE: This is the OFFICIAL electro, hip hop, funk music songwriter, producer, performing and recording artist Jerry Calliste Jr. now known as Hashim Music's biography. It is a continuation of his career as an artists who used to be on Cutting Records and now records and peforms on the new Internet based label (i-label) Bassmint Music Inc.

Legendary songwriter, producer, recording and performing artist, Jerry Calliste Jr., n.k.a. (now known as) Hashim Music (performing under the name of his music publishing company), was born in the Bronx and raised there until the age of five. This electro music genius moved to the Inwood Washington Heights area, on Dyckman Street (200ST.) in New York City, where he began creating hip hop, electro funk, break beat and electronica music at the young age of 14 years of age. Hashim Music is known for his heavy driving synth bass and distinct orchestral synth string sounds that are placed over old school hip hop beats to produce his unique style of electro electronica hip hop funk.

From (1979) until (1981), Jerry Calliste Jr. could be found in the parks, at the Cadet Headquarters, Southern Blvd in the Bronx. Influenced by Harold McGuire or DJ Whiz Kid, Kraftwerk, Afrika Bambaataa, and Man Parrish Jerry Calliste Jr. set out to accomplish big goals in the music biz and attained those goals and secured a spot for himself in electro-hip hop dance music lore. Hashim Music's determination at 17 years old in (1983) spearheaded him into early success at a very young age in the music business. Not many people if any are responsible for managing all facets of a songs success. He was the songwriter, co-producer, co-owner of Cutting Records, promoter, publisher and distributor at 17 years old.

Hashim Music 'arguably the best' electro music songwriter and producer of all time, there is no doubt he is definitely one of the most popular. Consistently voted in the top five and top ten on a "Top Electro Songs of all Times" list, Hashim Music usually has two, sometimes three, songs listed in the top 10 on sites such as Electro Empire.

Unofficially Hashim Music has collectively and easily sold over 2 million units worldwide, and influenced thousands of people worldwide to become DJ's. Hashim Music packed and still packs dance floors two and a half decades later. Hashim Music peaked at number 43 on Billboard Magazines dance music charts with "Al-Naafiysh (The Soul)" in (1984) and (1985), “Al-Naafiysh (The Soul)" is licensed on over 55+ compilations worldwide. Numerous DJ's use "Al-Naafiysh (The Soul)" in DJ competitions worldwide and it continues to influence people around the globe today.

In (2002), Calliste Jr.'s "Al-Naafiysh (The Soul)" was licensed to Sony/Epic and Sony Playstation II for Rockstar Games Grand Theft Auto Vice City for the game and soundtrack respectively. "Al-Naafiysh (The Soul)", in recent months, was also the underlying music for Rockstar Games Grand Theft Auto Vice City second television commercial campaign. In September 2003, Sony Computer Entertainment of America (SCEA) licensed the track for new game title, NBA Shootout II. It was part of the Definitive Electro compilation released on Universal TV - UK and Fabric 24 - UK's compilation.

Hashim Music headlined and performed to a sold out crowd at Wembley Arena (UK) in addition to several other large venues throughout the world.

For the past 2 decades, Hashim Music and several other electro-hip hop songwriters and producers like Afrika Bambaataa and Anthony Rother have kept the electro flame alive.
