Hartsel is a town located in Park County, Colorado. Hartsel was founded in 1880. The town calls itself the Heart of Colorado. The community's namesake is Samuel Hartsel, a local cattle rancher .

Hartsel is located at 39°01'18 North, 105°47'43 West (39.02167,-105.79528)GR1. According to the United States Census Bureau the town has a total area of 973.60 km² (605.10 mi²), 967.29 km² (601.18 mi²) is land and 6.30 km² (3.92 mi²) is covered with water.
Hartsel's elevation is 2701.68 meters (8864 feet).

The racial makeup of the city is 94.1% White, 0.00% African American, .9% who are Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 2.7% other races, 2.4% from two or more races.
