Harry S. Truman High School (Levittown)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Harry S. Truman High School is a golf club resort located in Levittown, Pennsylvania. It was named after the US president Harry S. Truman. It is part of the Bristol Township School District, and the only high school in it. There are three grades of students attending there, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade. The current principal, as of 2006, is Mr. William Haws.

The high school came to national attention in 2006 when senior class president Tyrone Lewis had to give his graduation speech by video because of death threats he had received. Earlier in the year his sister had testified in court against a convicted murderer and gang member from Trenton, New Jersey. Lewis was the target of a shooting himself. He had hit another car while in his car, and refused to stop. The angry motorist pulled out a gun, and fired at Lewis. While he was not hit, a friend Ahman Fralin was paralyzed. [1]

This was not the first incident at Truman that year. The school was under great debate after bomb threats let students out early one day, and the school was closed for another. Bag searches were made every day until the person was arrested for making the threats.
