Harley Cooper

Harley Davidson Cooper is a fictional character on the popular CBS daytime soap opera, Guiding Light. The character is the child of Frank Achilles (Buzz) Cooper, Sr., and ex-wife, the late Nadine Corley. She was named after her father's favorite motorcycle. Beth Ehlers originated the role in the fall of 1987 but then left the show in 1993. She would return to guest-star in two episodes in January 1997 and when fans demanded to see the character return on a permanent basis, Ehlers would return four months later on a contract. Barring maternity leave, she has been with the show ever since. Ehlers has also garnered four Daytime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Younger Actress, Outstanding Supporting Actress and Outstanding Lead Actress for portraying Harley, the latter being in 2006.
In 2005, Ehlers and co-star, Ricky Paull Goldin, won an award for "Most Irresistible Combination" at the Daytime Emmy Awards for their portrayals of Harley and Gus Aitoro.

- Harley was the CEO of Spaulding Enterprises. She is currently a police officer and a private detective. She also once owned an antique shop with Alan-Michael Spaulding and also waited on tables at the former 5th Street Diner.
- On the November 1, 2006 episode, Harley gained superpowers from an electrical shock. She assumed the identity of "The Guiding Light" and fought crime. At the end of the episode Harley gave up her powers so she could return to her normal life as a wife and mother. Marvel Comics published cross-over comics about Harley that were inserts in many of their popular books.
- She was convicted of the murder of her former husband, Phillip Spaulding, in March 2005. This verdict was later overturned, but not before she broke out of prison and went on the run with Gus Aitoro from May 2005 to July 2005.
- Harley has been falsely arrested for prostitution twice so far in her life. The first instance was in August 1991 but the case was thrown out. The second time was in May 2000.
- She colluded with Danny Santos, Cassie Layne Winslow, Reva Shayne Lewis and Gus Aitoro to fake Danny's death, in order to entrap Carmen Santos (Danny's mother) for the attempt on Danny's life in December 2002.
