The original Hard Truck. It was developed by Russian developer SoftLab-NSK and published by Buka Entertainment. It emphasized truck racing, although it had a mode where you could deliver cargo. The maps were simple, usually had 2 or 3 routes to reach the destination, and had no traffic model.

Very similar to the first, but more of an emphasis on delivery of goods. Police are added to the maps, but still no traffic model. Interestingly, the police only give chase for a limited time period, after which they simply give up and dispatch a machine gun crazy helicopter to attempt to slow you down. Once they've demolished your truck, they write you out a simple ticket.

In this installment, the racing option was removed completely. The game focused on delivery of goods. There were three maps, each depicting an area of the USA, including:

[edit] West Coast

[edit] Midwest

[edit] Rocky Mountains

A traffic model was added. It also featured a simple business management sim, where you could hire drivers and set up routes to make profit.

All further trucking simulations from ValuSoft are in a new series simply called 18 Wheels of Steel.

[edit] Hard Truck: Apocalypse

Also known as 'Apocalyptic Wars'. Again developed by Russian developer Buka Entertainment and Targem, this game will be very different from previous incarnations. In a post-nuclear apocalypse world, the player must survive by trading supplies between small enclaves of survivors in order to repair and upgrade their truck, not only for speed and cargo space, but for armour and weapons to fight off resource bandits in true Road Warrior style.
