[edit] Summary

[edit] Fair use for Hans Asperger and Asperger syndrome

The image linked here is claimed to be used under fair use as:

  1. it is a historically significant photo of a famous individual;
  2. it is of much lower resolution than the original (copies made from it will be of very inferior quality)
  3. the photo is only being used for informational purposes.
  4. Its inclusion in the article adds significantly to the article because it shows the subject of this article and how the event depicted was very historically significant to the general public.

No free or public domain images have been located for this person.

The photograph is intended to represent a well known and significant person in the scientific discovery of aspergers. The use of the image is important because it is such a significant photograph, that a lack of the photograph would fail to put a face on the person who "discovered" aspergers syndrome. The image illustrates references made to it in several sections throughout the article. It should also be noted that very similar images to this one are on the internet in many sites which discuss the condition.

The image is used for informational purposes only and is not believed to detract from the original person in any way.

The copyright status of this image, which is a reduction of a scan from some kind of printed media, is entirely unknown. I found the image here [1] and reduced it considerably] Zeraeph 09:37, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

Further source information is unobtainable at this time and not required for a claim of fair use where the onus is on copyright holders to raise objection. A similar image has been used on several Wikipedia mirrors for some considerable time (over one year) without objection being raised. --Zeraeph 12:18, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
