Hanur

Hanur is a newly formed (Decemeber 2002) taluk in Chamrajnagar district of Karnataka State, India. Previously, it was under Kollegal Taluk.

Hanur is a commercial centre for many near by villages like Bandally, Cowdally, Kamagere, and Singanallur. Nagappa (Former Minister of Karnataka who was killed by Veerappan) was elected from Hanur constituency. Christa Raja School of Hanur has a record of giving good results, almost 100% result in the 10th standard public exams.
Hanur is one of the wealthiest places of the Chamarajanagar district. It is rich with natural resources like granite, agricultural products which include sugar cane, jowar and coconut. The place is surrounded by hills and is located at the heart of the terrain. It boasts a rich culture with diversified people.
It is the centre for famous tourist spots such as M. M. Hills, Mutthathi, Tibet colony, B. R. Hills, Bulf (Garanchukki & Barachukki), Nagamale, Gundapur Dam, Gundal Dam, Mekedat, and more.
