From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hans-Joachim Tiedge (born 24 June 1937 in Berlin) is a former head of West Germany's counter-intelligence in the Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV). He was revealed to be an East German spy in 1985, and defected to the East on August 19, 1985.
Questions were raised as to how Herr Tiedge managed to hold on to his position despite serious debts, family issues and a drink problem.
After German reunification Tiedge fled to Moscow where he lives today under the name Hans Ottowitsch.
