Hans Swarowsky

Hans Swarowsky (September 16, 1899, Budapest, Hungary - September 10, 1975, Salzburg, Austria) was an Austrian conductor. He was also a professor of Conducting at the Vienna University of Music. This school produced many of the most famous conductors of both our times and of the past century, including Claudio Abbado, Ulf Söderblom, Jacques Delacote, Adam and Ivan Fischer,Mariss Jansons, Jesus Lopez-Cobos, Zubin Mehta, Peter Schneider, and Bruno Weil. Swarowsky's lectures and essays were collected into the publication "Keeping Shape", which today serves as a bible for questions regarding performance and conducting.
