Hannele Pokka

Hannele Pokka (born 1952) is governor of the province of Lapland. She began her term of office in 1994. She is the fifth Governor of Lapland and the first woman to hold the office.
She is married to a munipal administrator Esko Tavia, and is the mother of a daughter, Johanna.

Pokka is also known at the author of romance novels.
She served as Minister of Justice during the Esko Aho government, immediately succeeding Tarja Halonen, who would become Finland's first female president, and immediately preceding Anneli Jäätteenmäki, who would become Finland's first female prime minister.
