Hanna-Barbera laugh track

The Hanna-Barbera-created laugh track was a series of canned laughter added to the soundtrack of many cartoon shows produced in the 1970s.

This laugh track is known for sounding especially tinny, and containing less than ten different laughs. Hanna-Barbera used their home-grown laugh track on their animated shows after 1972 as a cost-saving measure; it was less expensive to add their own chuckles instead of hiring Charley Douglass's company (who added laugh tracks to all the major network shows).

Interestingly, Hanna-Barbera's 'limited' chuckles were actually culled from the same tapes Douglass used.
