"Hands All Over" was the second song on Soundgarden's second album, Louder than Love. It was also the second single from the album. The song is different to many other Soundgarden songs because of how it is layered. The single also marks the beginning of Soundgarden having cover versions as b-sides that are very different from the typical Soundgarden song. Producer Jack Endino provided the backing vocals on "Come Together". This was also the last time that Soundgarden recorded with him.

The song appears to show a strong enviromentalism message, with "mother" being the earth and "baby brother" being humanity.

"The video for that song was one of the lamest ever made. It really sucked. What I liked about the song was that it was just one simple riff -- one note, one chord -- but with a lot of dynamics. In some ways it's simple and basic; in other ways, it's very sophisticated in how it was layered. We don't really have many songs that are like 'Hands All Over.'" --Kim Thayil

The video was shot in a factory-like setting with band members swinging on equipment in the building.
