Handbra

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Handbra is a modeling technique wherein the model, though topless, prevents the viewing of her nipples by holding her breasts with her hands.

[edit] Uses

The Handbra is an important technique in modeling, primarily for teasing. The Handbra allows models to show their bodies, including much of their breasts, without technically showing nudity. This advantageous condition is useful for underage models, for whom it would be illegal to show themselves nude or topless, and for non-nude models, who thrive on displaying their bodies as brazenly and suggestively, sexually, as possible without being strictly naked.

[edit] Modern Prevalence

The origins of Handbra are unknown. Internet-proliferated Handbra, however, has its origins in online modeling by professionals such as Kari Sweets, who perform Handbra for the purpose of commercial gain through sexual stimulation, and by amateur models who perform Handbra to stimulate their friends or boyfriends in images and/or video, which were subsequently presented publicly. Handbra is also prevalent in magazines such as Maxim and FHM which include photographs of models and celebrities, sometimes in skimpy clothing or suggestive poses such as Handbra, without actual nudity. Handbra is also used in fiction television and movies to imply nudity or toplessness without actually revealing nudity, which could result in censorship or unwanted ratings. Handbra is considered the next best thing to actual nudity((fact)), and by some, even more stimulating than nudity, for the sense of mystery, imagination, and perhaps innocent sexuality, that it purveys.
