Hanatarash

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hanatarashi (ハナタラシ), meaning The Snot Nose(d) in Japanese, were a noise music band created by Boredoms frontman Yamatsuka Eye and featured Zeni Geva guitarist Mitsuru Tabata in 1984 after meeting as stage hands at an Einstürzende Neubauten show. After the release of the first album, the I was dropped and the name became Hanatarash. They were notorious for their dangerous live shows where gas drums were thrown at the audience, beer bottles thrown around, and once an (already dead) cat was cut in half. At one show, Yamatsuka Eye managed to cause around $60,000 worth of damage by driving a backhoe through the venue's wall.
