[edit] Boundaries
Following their review of parliamentary representation in North London, the Boundary Commission for England has created a new constituency of Hampstead and Kilburn, which also includes three wards from the neighbouring borough of Brent.
Some areas here are amongst the wealthiest in the UK, but the seat has a somewhat intellectual middle-class vote, which the Tories cannot always take as voting for them; it also has Kilburn, with its large Irish community. It could be predicted following the 2005 result that it may become a genuine three-way marginal. Glenda Jackson's high public profile may help her here in future contests, though she has yet to announce whether she intends to seek re-election in the new seat. She has never been one of Tony Blair's greatest supporters either, with an often critical and independent attitude with New Labour.
