Hammond High School (Louisiana)

Hammond High School, founded in 1866, is the sole public high school in Hammond, Louisiana. The school belongs to the Tangipahoa Parish Public School System. The mascot is the Purple Tornado, and the school colors, therefore, are purple and white. As of the 2006 school year, Hammond High's principal is Carmon Moore. It is located 7 miles out of Hammond's city limits, and enrolls students from Hammond and various cities within Tangipahoa Parish.

Hammond High School does its best to offer the widest variety of courses possible to its students. These courses include: Computer Architecture, Bible History, Psychology, and even American History AP. HHS students are highly encouraged to not just complete the classes needed to graduate, but also those needed to achieve TOPS.

Football– The HHS football team had a losing 2006 season with only two wins. However, to their delight, the second was against their rival team Ponchatoula High School.
