Hamish & Andy (Hamish Blake and Andy Lee) are a Melbourne comedic duo, who in 2004 launched their own show called Hamish & Andy. It was a Sketch comedy show spin off of Big Bite and appeared on Australia's Seven Network. The show ran for a total of six episodes before being axed. Hamish & Andy kept their contract with Channel 7 and produced a pilot called The Friday Show, however it was never picked up by the network. Hamish & Andy were then picked up by Melbourne's Fox FM, doing daytime radio on Saturdays. They became so popular their timeslot moved to later in the afternoon in early 2006, with their radio show, named Hamish and Andy's Drive Home. They have now overtaken 3AW's Derryn Hinch in drive time ratings.
Hamish & Andy have produced eight episodes of a new series for Network Ten called Real Stories which satirises public affairs programs such as Today Tonight and A Current Affair. It began airing on 22 August 2006 and features a number of cameo appearances from prominent Australian comedians.
In 2006, Hamish & Andy began producing podcasts. The show became very popular and is consistently ranked in the top 10 podcasts on the Australian iTunes Store.
Andy Lee recently won Cleo Bachelor of the Year 2006. As part of their radio show, Hamish Blake used the AU$800, which was originally kept aside to take his girlfriend on a holiday, to put a bet on Andy winning the 'glamour-quest'. As a result, Hamish won AU$12,000, which he put towards buying a greyhound for the radio show. The greyhound will be named 'Fred Basset' after a scraped segment from earlier on in the year.
