Hamburger Hochbahn

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hamburger Hochbahn AG or HHA is an organisation operating the underground system and large parts of the bus system in Hamburg, Germany.

[edit] Significance

HHA operate about 120 bus lines in Hamburg and the three underground lines that currently exist in Hamburg. In spite of the "U" for "underground", large portions of the net, especially outside the inner city run on the surface. Some parts of the underground, notably along the banks of River Elbe in the city, are elevated above the ground (hence the name "Hochbahn" for "elevated railways").

HHA is the second largest public transport operator in Germany and the major partner in the Hamburger Verkehrsverbund.
