Halifax Regional Water Commission

The Halifax Regional Water Commission is the water utility of the Halifax Regional Municipality Nova Scotia that supplies potable water and fire protection water to the urban core communities and in therural area operates small systems .

The Halifax Regional Water Commission was formed on April 1, 1996 combining the water utilies of Dartmouth , , the city of Halifax and Halifax County . Before the City of Dartmouth water also supplied Eastern Passage , Westphal, and Cole Harbour . The Halifax city water utility also supplied Bedford . The county of Halifax water utily supplied Lower Sackville and Waverley Area.

- Lake Major was ,Commissioned in 1999 uses the" Sedimentation with Multi Media Filtration procees , the Plant Capacity of 90 ML/day (20 Million igpm) serving the communities of Dartmouth , Eastern Passage, Cole Harbour and Westphal Nova Scotia .
- Pockwock Lake was Commissioned in 1977 uses the Process: Direct Dual Media Filtration Process , the Plant Capacity been 220 ML/day (50 Million igpm), serving the communities of Halifax , Bedford , Sackville , Fall River, Waverley and Timberlea .

- A main run under the deck of the Angus L. Macdonald Bridge connecting the systems of the major plants.
- 4.5 kms of pipe are replaced annually.
