Hal Robinson

Hal Robinson (born Harold Hall Robinson July 29, 1952, Houston, Texas) was the appointed principal bass of the Philadelphia Orchestra beginning with the 1995/96 season, serving for 10 years as principal bass of the National Symphony Orchestra and eight years as associate principal of the Houston Symphony. Prior to that, he was a member of the Santa Fe Opera Orchestra. A prize-winner of the 1982 Isle of Man Solo Competition, he has performed as a soloist with the Philadelphia National Symphony], and Houston Symphony orchestras; New York Philharmonic; and American Chamber Orchestra, as well as other ensembles. He joined the faculty of the Curtis Institute of Music in 1995.
