Hakim Adi

Dr Hakim Adi (Ph.D SOAS, London University) is Reader in the History of Africa and the African Diaspora at Middlesex University, London, UK. He is a founder member and currently chairs the Black and Asian Studies Association, and a member of the Mayor of LondonĀ“s Commission on African and Asian Heritage.

He has appeared in several television documentaries including BBC radio programs, and has written widely on the history of the African Diaspora and Africans in Britain, including three history books for children.

Adi starred in the multi-award winning documentary 500 Years Later (2005) staring Maulana Karenga , Muhammed Shareef , Francis Cress Welsin , Kimani Nehusi, Paul Robeson Jr , Nelson George, and many more. The film was written by M.K. Asante, Jr.directed by Owen 'Alik Shahadah.
