Comment posted on Dan Gardner talk page by me. I notice that you removed what you call erroneous info. regarding the first person to run under 13 mins. for 5000 m (the only person to achieve this previously was Saïd Aouita in 1987 but he never ran sub 27 for 10000) and 27 min. for 10000 metres (only William Sigei in 1994 and Yobes Ondieki in 1993 had previously done this but neither ran the sub 13 minutes for 5000 prior to Haile doing this. You will see from this link [1] (http://www.gbrathletics.com/tp/worm.htm) that he was the only person to go sub 13 mins in 1994 and the only person sub 27 minutes in 1995 you can further prove this by checking their personal bests for the events. Maybe it wasn't written as clearly as it should have been but you ought to check the details before deleting info.Scraggy4 21:48, 25 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Perhaps this is a silly question - I am not informed on Ethiopian naming systems - is Haile Gebrselassie related to Haile Selassie of Ethiopia?

just a similar name...nothing else
