Hagfors Municipality is a Municipality in Värmland, in west central Sweden. Its seat is in Hagfors with 5,700 inhabitants, situated at 200 meters height.
The nearest larger city is Karlstad, about 100 kilometers south. Being sparsely populated, Hagfors boasts it natural areas that offer good fishing, canoeing and wild life.
Its history is traced to 1873, when it was decided to build two blast furnaces at the location. When Hagfors received its charter in 1950, it had 6,501 inhabitants. The designated coat of arms was a tribute to the furnaces.
The town of Hagfors plays host to the Swedish Rally, an car rally, every February, which provides a significant annual economic windfall for the region.
