Talk:Hafnium(IV) carbide

[edit] Refractory?

With such a high melting point (the highest of any binary compound according to hafnium), why is it important to avoid heat (twice!) and open flames? All around this stuff sounds pretty inert.

Could be subtle vandalism.
The thought crossed my mind, but it just looks really careless. So do we have a connoisseur in the house? ;v) Or was hafnium carbide near a heat source on the USS Maine? Potatoswatter 04:09, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
