From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hadi Al-Amiri is the head of the Badr Organization, which is the military wing of the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI). Moreover, he is a member of the Iraqi parliament under the United Iraqi Alliance list, which mainly represents religious Shia parties, some of which are strongly pro-Iranian.

As leader of Badr Organization, Hadi Al-Amiri had very close ties to the Iranian leadership, and in particular the Islamic Revolutionary Guards which was responsible for training the Badr Brigade during Saddam Hussein's rule.

Hadi Al-Amiri was also one of the first Shiite politicians to call for regional autonomy in the south of Iraq.
