Hades Almighty

Hades Almighty are a Black Metal band hailing from Norway. They play a style of black metal, similar to Bathory. They play at a pace that is similar to that of Doom Metal but their music still rooted in Black Metal. Their vocalist has an extremely harsh voice and the music is generally very heavy even though they do not play with much pace. They were formed in 1992 and are signed to Dark Essence Records. They are currently active, although they haven't released an album since 2001.

The band was originally called Hades, and even released a couple of albums under that name. However, they had to change it to Hades Almighty due to the fact that an American band using this name had reformed. The name was changed in 1998.

Hades were formed in 1992 by guitarist Jørn Inge Tunsberg and drummer Remi. After releasing their 1993 demo they were joined by bassist Janto Garmanslund and guitarist Nagel. Hades debut album was released in 1994, after this Nagel was replaced by another guitarist who went by the name of Stig. They released another album in 1997 and this was mildly well received by black metal fans. After changing their name to Hades Almighty, the band began working on their next album.

In 1999 the band released Millenium Nocturne under Hammerheart Records. The album was noted for not only being incredibly dark but for also the heaviness that the band could achieve without having to play at fast tempos. They toured Europe in support of this album, playing with bands such as Immortal and Mayhem. The album Pulse of Decay was released in 2001, continuing with largely the same mood and atmosphere of the previous album. The album was rereleased in 2004 by Dark Essence Records mainly due to the fact that it was difficult to come by.
