Héctor Baley

Héctor Baley (born November 16, 1950) was an Argentine football player, who played the position of goalkeeper. Baley was a back-up goalkeeper on Argentina's 1978 FIFA World Cup winning squad and also in the 1982 edition. Given goalkeeper Ubaldo Fillol great strength, he ended up playing few matches for the national team, but a memorable performance during a 1-1 draw against West Germany in a 1982 friendly match is well remembered among football aficionados.

His career started in the Zubeldía era of Estudiantes de La Plata, where he was one of several goalkeepers who tried to fill in for suspended Alberto Poletti.

Known as Chocolate because of his dark skin, he also played for Huracán, Independiente, and for Talleres de Córdoba, where he was badly injured during the last game of the 1982/83 season (the game that gave the championship to his first team, Estudiantes). His replacement on that game was Ángel Comizzo, who made his debut.
