Gylfi Einarsson (born October 27, 1978 in Reykjavík) is an Icelandic football midfielder.
He started his career in Fylkir, and moved to Norwegian club Lillestrøm S.K.. In the 2004 season he scored 13 goals in 26 matches. When his contract expired, he was snapped up by Leeds United, who had to wait until January 2005 to sign him. Upon arriving in Leeds, Einarsson had been capped 7 times for Iceland. Einarsson has never been more than a bit player at Elland Road mainly due to the injury problems which have occurred since his transfer to the club. On 6th September 2006 Gylfi had a hip operation to remove floating bone and was out of contention for the squad for eight weeks[1].
