From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Gwynfor Roberts is an artist who lives and works in and around the town of Ystrad Mynach in South Wales.
He was born in 1951 in the village of Tir-y-Berth. His passion for art revealed itself whilst he was at school, and continued into his adult life where he trained as an Engineering Draughtsman; he continues in this occupation today.
Gwynfor paints mostly local scenes, and accepts commissions from local people who wish to capture a favourite view or building. He is a member of the Bargoed and District Art Society and participates in their annual exhibition. He has also had works exhibited at the Royal Cambrian Academy of Art in Conwy. Most of his paintings are owned by local people.
Gwynfor's finished works are in oil on canvas or canvas board. Preliminary sketches are in pencil and watercolour. He sometimes paints from photographs, but prefers to use his own sketches as the source materials for his paintings.
