Gwernymynydd

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gwernymynydd is a small community, near the market town of Mold in Flintshire, North Wales. The name Gwernymynydd translates as 'Mountain of Elder Trees'. The village is 2 miles from Mold and at its highest point is 1000 feet above sea level.

With around 1000 inhabitants it boasts 3 pubs (The Swan, The Rainbow, and The Glyndwr), a combined shop & post office and an ex once-busy garage, now selling second-hand cars. Little remains of its industrial history - the worked-out Cambrian limestone quarry was once owned by Lever Brothers Ltd.

Gwernymynydd is also home to a farm, a community centre and a village primary school. Neighbouring communities include Cadole, Gwernaffield, Nercwys and indeed Mold.
