Note: I make many minor section based edits. I know this can cause the Recent Change patrollers to become annoyed (Believe me, I'm a RC patroller too). Plus, I know it makes my contributions list appear longer, but that is not my intention. In defense, I would like say that I'm connected using a standard dial-up modem at a blazing, 21st century speed of 24 kbps ( ½ of 56K ). With WP server load, it's best to submit section edits due to time-outs. Before you tell me all the new broadband technologies available: "I know," and I can't, due to where I reside.(now high speed!) 08:20, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your edits
No, I don't mind. If I did would I contribute? Yes, it would be nice to remember everything that is in the style manual, but I don't. There are two parts to the process, getting the data and formatting it. Both are important. Thanks for your follow up edits and feedback on what I have been adding. I might do more, but it's not that easy. Takes a lot of digging and that means time.
Oh, it's fun to try and save an article flagged for a speedy delete by making it useful. I wonder what that would be like on a 24K connection? ;-) Vegaswikian 21:07, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Main Street Station Hotel and Casino and Brewery
Suggestions for a better name? Maybe Main Street Station Las Vegas? Vegaswikian 03:12, 1 May 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Nice edits
I liked your edits on Clark County, I've been meaning to fix that article for along time but haven't found the time to do so (I live in Las Vegas also).--Comrade Nick @)---^-- 09:11, 14 May 2005 (UTC)
[edit] US vs U.S. discussion
Please see my comment on Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (acronyms). Unless I receive any positive response to U.S., I'll curb my edits toward other style editing projects.

This is showing up on Category:Candidates for speedy deletion for some reason. I couldn't immediately see why, but you might want to take a look. Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 22:16, 5 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- OK, having gone into the history, I've seen why. Look at [1], and scroll down... Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 22:28, 5 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks for pointing it out. I had removed the <nowiki> & </nowiki> statements when debuging and I actually fell asleep at the computer when working on it! Thanks again. …Guy M… (soapbox) 22:51, Jun 5, 2005 (UTC)

I will write a redraft of the IFLRY text. I didn't see any copyright violation, but there will be more difference in the new text. Electionworld 11:41, 6 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Thank you for the formatting suggestions on my talk page. I made the changes you suggested, and it's working great now. - Jersyko talk 12:31, Jun 8, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Bayeux Tapestry & Smart/Fancy Quotes
It appears you recently did a re-write on Bayeux Tapestry. Maybe you didn't know, but using a word process is OK, but turn off "fancy/smart quotes and apostrophes". It will add UNICODE (looks like &8221; [2]) to the finished page, which WP reguards (currently) as not in good style. This may change in the future. …Guy M… (soapbox) 02:58, Jun 14, 2005 (UTC)
- Nope, I'm not much of a content-wikipedian, I merely reverted vandalism to it. The unicode was already there, but on reverting my browser changed it from UTF-8 literals to html character entities, which isn't much of an improvement but at least made it valid Latin-1. --W(t) 03:25, 2005 Jun 14 (UTC)
[edit] Eli Siegel
Thanks for your copyediting help on Eli Siegel. Several fans and detractors of the subject are involved in editing the article. For some reason the word "suicide" is a major bone of contention between them. I'm trying to work with the fans to accept it. But in the meantime adding it in big bold letters may seem to them like rubbing their noses in it. The article and its pair, Aesthetic Realism, have been in almost constant flux for a long while and I'm hoping that with some patient editing we can arrive at more stable versions. Please do participate if you like. There's a thread on Siegel's death on the talk page. Cheers, -Willmcw 22:09, Jun 17, 2005 (UTC)
- Just finished my attempt at NPOV / Dispute resolution message before I read this. Please see my full message there.
- In a nutshell:
- I'm a neutral person on [the] article. I've never heard of, read any, talked to, seen or otherwise associated with Eli Siegel or the organization and beliefs of "Aesthetic Realism", until I found [the] article. With that in mind...

- How about this as a compromise:
- From: His
suicidewas described by Ellen Reiss … - To: His untimely passing was described by Ellen Reiss …
- From: His
- is that an equitable compromise?

[edit] Spelling edits on Money
You did an amazing job correcting spelling errors in the article. That's the kind of tedious task that's usually thankless but absolutely essential for wiki to look "professional." Kudos to you! Feco 04:17, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Rollback and godmode-light
Hiya, Guy M, I noticed you use the godmode-light script. As you use an emulation of the rollback feature I would be interested in hearing your thoughts on a proposal I have which would grant the rollback feature to those who request it, similar to Wikipedia:Requests for adminship, except with a lower threshold. The proposal is at Wikipedia:Requests for rollback; your comments are welcomed at Wikipedia talk:Requests for rollback. Thanks! Talrias (t | e | c) 17:09, 20 July 2005 (UTC)
- Hi, I, being tired of waiting for an admin to find an admin to revert something and it taking too long to undo all the changes manually, decided to use godmode-light, I copied your enire monobook.js and left it the same way besides for switching my name for your name in the welcome section. My question is that the rollback option seems to freeze i.e. after Getting article history... it just stops, the same problem happened when I just used the one line script direct from sam's site. I was wondering if you can help me solve this problem, Thanks, in advance. --Eliezer | £€åV€ m€ å m€§§åg€ 05:34, 21 July 2005 (UTC)
- BTW in Firefox it gets to the second step (Getting article edit form...) before it freezes. --Eliezer | £€åV€ m€ å m€§§åg€ 05:45, 21 July 2005 (UTC)
- The latest version is available at [3] I have not been successful in getting it work. I have questions for you both though, I highlighted my answers in bold. (I used to work in testing software and reporting directly to developers/engineers)
- What OS are you using? (*unix, WinXP/2K/Me/98/95...)
- Are you using broadband (DSL/Cable) or 'DialUp?
- Are you using MS Java (that basically comes with Windows/Internet Explorer) or Suns Java?
- Which browser do you use? (InternetExplorer, Firefox, Opera, Other)
- Outside of a possible bug (Image that in software!), I suspect #3 mainly.
- …Guy M… (soapbox) 20:05, July 21, 2005 (UTC)
- I am using XP SP2, IE 6.0 , Suns Java (version 1.5), on a DSL connection. --Eliezer | £€åV€ m€ å m€§§åg€ 01:01, 22 July 2005 (UTC)
- I heard sam (the author) on irc mentioning that the media wiki upgrade is what broke the script (it was working in the transition version, but the final one broke), but he's not home and it'll be about 10 days until when he can start fixing it. He thinks it's related to the new permanent version numbers assignment for entries, but I wasn't paying much attention to the talk at that moment. drini ☎ 20:19, 21 July 2005 (UTC)
- Good to know. Thank you. …Guy M… (soapbox) 20:50, July 21, 2005 (UTC)
- Nice thing about diff pages: This page shows the diffs between v904 and v907 of godmode-light, should anyone want to take a look-see. …Guy M… (soapbox) 20:50, July 21, 2005 (UTC)
- Hmmm... odd, mine has stopped working as well now. But it was working fine after the MW 1.5 upgrade (and IIRC I only started using it after the upgrade). I'm on WinXP, Firefox 1.05 (but it doesn't work on my IE 6.0 either), Suns Java and with a DSL connection. the wub "?/!" 16:10, 22 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Graham Norton
When it comes to an obvious case of vandalism (such as putting a porn link in Graham Norton) reverting isn't included in the 3RR rule, as the important thing is to stop the vandalism. Vandals can be reported at [[4]]; if this person is being as persistent as you say it sounds like a severe case, SqueakBox 16:01, 20 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Semi-protection
I saw you just reverted vandalism on George W. Bush, and wondered what you thought about the proposals to curb what's going on there. If you have time, check out Wikipedia:Semi-protection policy, and weigh in (there's something of a large discussion page, so be prepared. For a quick run-through of what's been said and done, see #rehashing) Hope to see you there. -Mysekurity(have you seen this?) 02:38, 13 December 2005 (UTC)
