Guy Sajer

Guy Sajer (born 13 January 1927) is the pseudonym of the author of the autobiography The Forgotten Soldier. Other names used by the writer include Guy Mouminoux, Dimitri, and Dimitri Lahache.
Sajer states he was an inhabitant of Alsace drafted into the German Wehrmacht at age 16 and subsequently fought in the elite Großdeutschland Division during World War II. After the war he wrote about his wartime experience in The Forgotten Soldier, which initially was taken to be a genuine account of German experiences on the Eastern Front. However, the accuracy of the book is questionable and The Forgotten Soldier is now regarded as a historical novel by many historians.
Sajer also became an artist of comic books under the pseudonym Dimitri. One called "Kursk Tourmente d'Acier" is about the Battle of Kursk from the view of a German foot soldier.
