Gustav is the name of the lap-pop music project of Vienna-based Austrian artist Eva Jantschitsch.

Jantschitsch was born in 1978 in Graz, Austria. In 1997 she moved to Vienna to study at the University of Applied Arts and has since been involved in various aspects of visual, performance and internet art.
Her first outing as a solo performer was in 2002 when she sang, accompanied by a children's cassette player, at Frauenbandenfest (a music festival with links to Ladyfest). 2005 saw the release of her largely self-produced, home-recorded debut album 'Rettet Die Wale' on the Mosz label.
Jantschitsch says the name Gustav comes from the fact her father always wanted a son: "I'm the third and last result of his attempt, so he used to call me 'Gustav,' at least till I was three years old."[1]
