Gustav

Gustav is a name of Old Swedish origin, means "staff of the Goths", derived from the Old Norse elements Gautr "Goth" and stafr "staff". This name has been borne by six kings of Sweden, including the 16th-century Gustav I Vasa. It is a common name for Swedish monarchs since the reign of Gustav Vasa. It has entered other languages as well. In French it is Gustave, in Spanish Gustavo. The Latinised form is Gustavus. A side form of the name in Swedish is Gösta. The name in Finnish is Kustaa. In German it's also Gustav or Gustaf.
