Gurunath Aabaji Kulkarni (1923-1987, popularly known as G.A. Kulkarni or GA) is an Indian writer who lived in Malmuddi, Dharwad and taught English at JSS College. He is one of the most reputed short story writers in Marathi. He has around ten collections of short stories and two collections of translations. His main collections are:

  • Neela Savla (1959)
  • Parva (1960)
  • Hirve Rave (1962)
  • Raktchandan (1966)
  • Kajalmaya (1972)
  • Pigalavel (1977)
  • Ramalkhuna (1975)
  • Sanjshakun (1975)

His earlier stories were realistic in their mode and depicted the tragic and cruel side of human predicament in an unsentimental manner. His language was evocative and even sublime. His later works are almost Kafkaesque minus Kafka's farcical sense of black humor. The later works are sublime, allegorical and reminiscent of Borges. Almost all his work is informed by a tragic vision of human destiny as unredeemable and ruthless.
