Guo Jingming (郭敬明) (b. June 6, 1983) is a famous Chinese author. His books are very popular among young people in China. Guo is currently studying as a university student in Shanghai and has published 5 books so far. Also he is now the editor of the magazine 'I5LAND'.
Guo's first book is called 'Huan Cheng' (literally meaning 'The City of Fantasies'), which was first published as a series on the magazine 'Meng Ya'. It caused a great impact on the public and this is what made Guo famous. The next few books from him were also very successful until later, in December 2004, a court in Beijing ruled one of his novel 'Meng Li Hua Luo Zhi Duo Shao' ('Never Flowers in Never Dreams', according to English subtitle on the book) as a plagiarization of another novel 'Quan Li Quan Wai' (Inside and Outside the Circle) by a writer caller 'Zhuang Yu'. And Guo was fined ¥200000. ($25000 approx.) From that time, the views on him began to diverge. Some still think that he is a writer with great potential and ability, while others argue that he is simply a product of the commercialized society.
