[edit] Welcome

Hello Gunman47 and welcome to Wikipedia! I'm glad you've chosen to join us. This is a great project with lots of dedicated people, which might seem intimidating at times, but don't let anything discourage you. Be bold!, explore, and contribute. If you want to learn more,

The following links might also come in handy:

Float around for awhile until you find something that tickles your fancy. One easy way to do this is to hit the random page button in the navigation bar to the left. You can write new articles, add to existing ones, or edit any and all pages that appear. There are also many great committees and groups that focus on particular jobs. My personal favorite stomping grounds are Wikipedia:Translation into English and Wikipedia:Cleanup for sloppy articles, but they may not interest you. Finally, the Wikimedia Foundation has several other wiki projects that you might enjoy more, but Wikipedia is the most popular by far.

There are a few crucial points to keep in mind when editing. Be civil with users, strive to maintain a neutral point of view, and show good etiquette like signing your comments with four tildas like this: ~~~~ If you have any more questions, always feel free to ask me anything on my talk page or ask the true experts at Wikipedia:Help desk. Again, welcome! Draeco 03:55, 27 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Your email et al

Hey there,

Your email and/or MSN ID, if posted on your userpage, could make you vulnerable to spammers. You should consider taking it down (or put it in the format of someone at someplace dot net), since most people can just email you using the Special:Emailuser function. -- Миборовский U|T|C|E|Chugoku Banzai! 00:03, 30 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Boys Brigade

In the article on Singapore Boys Brigade, could you elaborate on how it is or isn't Scouting-related? You may want to join our Scouting WikiProject

Scouting itself find its roots and some of its ideas from the Boys' Brigade, so somehow it is related in some sense. However, the Boys' Brigade in Singapore is operating seperately from the Singapore Scouting Association, so it has no connections to scouting. Therefore any connections to Scouting should be made to the Boys' Brigade article instead. However you are free to make any other enquries or questions to this article related to Scouting. Thanks anyway, I will try to do some resarch on it. Gunman47 14:43, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Springfield_Secondary_School_Logo.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Springfield_Secondary_School_Logo.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. -- Carnildo 21:25, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Participant alert regarding Wikiproject on Advertising

The Wikiproject No Ads, created as a backlash against the Answers.com deal, has served an important function in providing a space for users to express their disagreement with the Foundation proposal. While the current controversies about userboxes raise questions about political and social advocacy on Wikipedia, there should be greater flexibility regarding advocacy about Wikipedia in the Wikipedia namespace. Reported and linked by Slashdot and other press sources as a unique and spontaneous occurence in Wikipedia history, it has apparently had some impact as, despite being scheduled to begin in January, not a peep has been heard about the trial and proposed sponsored link since the deal's controversial announcement months ago. Currently, however, there is an attempt to delete the project or move it off Wikipedia altogether. Since the Foundation has provided no additional information and has not attempted to answer the specific questions that participants in the project raised, it is unclear if the Answers.com deal has been abandoned or simply delayed. Until the situation becomes more clear, I believe the group should still have a place in the Wikipedia namespace. Sincerely, Tfine80 00:14, 10 February 2006 (UTC)

You should not have removed the AfD tag on this article. I have restored it. --Bduke 02:45, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
