From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Günter Schlierkamp (born February 2, 1970) is a German IFBB pro bodybuilder.
Schlierakamp was born in Olfen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany, where he grew up on a farm. Given his friendly demeanour and the fact that he is almost always smiling, Günter is one of the sports' most popular pro's and always a fan favourite. In 1996 he married Carmen Jourst and moved to the USA, but they divorced in 2003. He is currently engaged to Kim Lyons.
After a good showing at the 2005 Mr. Olympia contest coming in 4th, Günter started training with legendary trainer Charles Glass who trained him in 2002 which placed him above 8 time Mr. Olympia Ronnie Coleman at the GNC Show of Strength. Bringing back his training with Charles Glass to hopefully give him an edge for the 2006 Mr. Olympia Title but didn't manage to hold on to his position and came out with 10th place.
Gunter has been featured in many bodybuilding articles, including being on the cover of FLEX magazine. He also starred in the 2006 American movie Beerfest, released by Broken Lizard comedy group.
